What We’ve Learned at Trade Shows in 2024

At Inveniv, we’ve been fortunate to attend numerous trade shows over the years, and 2024 has been no different! This year, we’ve had the opportunity to attend a handful of trade shows to help our clients make connections and shine a spotlight on the impactful work they’re doing. Through our experiences, we’ve picked up some valuable insights that we wanted to share! Here’s a glimpse into what we’ve learned at trade shows in 2024.

Establish Clear Goals

As soon as you register for a trade show, define what you want to achieve when you’re at the show. Are you aiming to generate leads, pitch a product, or present new research? Clearly outline your goals and break them into actionable tasks for your team. This will keep everyone focused and organized, helping you measure success and identify areas for improvement after the event.

Don’t Overlook the Details

It's easy to focus on the big picture, but at a trade show, the small details really count. Take your booth’s visibility, for example. We've seen how important it is to make sure your company’s logo is visible from every angle. Some of our clients even went the extra mile by creating a “crown” with their company name and logo that hung above their booth. This made it easy for everyone on the show floor to spot them! It might seem like a small detail, but it can be the difference between someone stopping by or just strolling past without a second glance.

And while we’re talking details, let’s not forget about the quality of your printed materials. There’s nothing worse than realizing your booth copy is too small to read, is not placed in a spot where visitors can easily see, or even worse, has a typo! Double-check everything from your booth to your posters—make sure your QR codes are easy to find and actually work! It’s those little things that can make a big impression.

We’ve also learned that a tidy booth can set you apart from the rest. This might not seem like a big deal, but keeping personal items like backpacks and purses out of sight will elevate the look of your space. After all, first impressions count, and a clean, organized booth shows attendees that you’re serious about what you do.

Be Engaging

One of the most important lessons we’ve learned at trade shows is the significance of engagement. Your booth is more than just a space—it’s a hub, and your team members are the hosts. When your team is passionate and excited, it shows—and the enthusiasm will resonate with your audience. Conversely, if your team lacks energy or interest, it will reflect poorly on your company and brand. So, keeping your team motivated and engaged is key to creating a positive and lasting impression at a show.

Engagement doesn’t stop at the booth! We’ve found that staying active on social media during the show is crucial. Share what’s happening in real-time - post about the sessions you’re attending, highlight your favorite speakers, and of course, showcase your booth. A quick snapshot of your team in action can speak volumes and helps keep your broader audience in the loop, even if they’re not there in person.

In short, the key to a successful trade show is a blend of thoughtful preparation and genuine engagement. By focusing on clear goals, attention to details, and creating a memorable experience for show attendees, you’ll not only stand out, but you’ll also build meaningful connections that extend beyond the show floor.
